Live Forever

A moth

I’m like a moth, with my self made cocoon. Sometimes I don’t know if I can break free.

And yet I know all the fear, the sadness, and struggle I face trying to break free is needed.

If we helped a moth by opening his cocoon, it would be free. But it would be too weak to survive.

Struggle is nature’s way of strengthening us.

Today is Towel Day!

somethingintellectual:

Don’t forget your Towel!

“A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-bogglingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have “lost”. What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.”

If you had asked me what I thought about LOST two months ago, I would’ve told you it was a stupid TV show that made absolutely no sense. I could never have been more wrong.

I decided to watch the pilot the same night season 6 premiered, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. I juggled countless episodes a day with schoolwork, eating, and sleeping. Most weekends were spent with my eyes glued to Hulu, attempting to catch up as quickly as possible. I was through the first two seasons by the time the second episode of season 6 aired. After 6 short weeks of laughing, screaming, squealing, and crying with my new favorite TV characters, I had finally caught up. My mind was constantly racing trying to figure out what was coming next. The show became all I talked about to anyone and everyone.

I’m terribly sad that this show is ending after it brought me so much happiness. I can’t imagine my world without LOST; it has truly changed my life.

I think I am a very quotable person :)

Whenever I sit down to do something, I can’t think of any ideas.

Otherwise I am very creative.

Six years ago we set out on a journey, and by we I mean the dedicated, passionate, and patient fans of Lost. To some, the journey of Lost is simply the lives that the survivors of Oceanic 815 lead. To others, like myself, Lost is very much a journey I have experienced. We have laughed, cried, and felt that heart sinking feeling when one of our most beloved castaways has fallen to the fate of the island. Lost is so much more than just a tv show for me personally, because, for one, it helped me find a common love that I shared with the members of my family. I believe that the writers/producers/actors/etc have asked us in this show to really pay attention, and to learn something, and to not forget it because it’s not like any other show. And I’m proud to say that for 6 years I have been listening and will continue listening to them even after the show is finished.
